What could be better than a catch up over a cuppa, with friends and enjoying a cheeky slice of cake; knowing that the money raised at our Spring Coffee Morning will be donated to our International Inner Wheel Charites.
Coffee Mornings are part of our great British tradition and an easy way to raise funds, to motivate and educate your members, friends and family about our favourite charities and of course, Inner Wheel. International Service Officer, Christine said ‘the coffee morning went well, and we had a great time’.
Sadly, though attendance wasn’t as high as in previous years; perhaps is was due to the very recent, and pending bank holidays, the commencement of the holiday season, or simply that we are all just very busy people. But either way, President Gloria, pictured here with Christine, wanted to say a very big thank you ‘we always pull together when we run an event. Everyone who attended had a good time and we were able to catch up and chat with old friends and some new. It was a lovely event and the Club should be very proud again to have run a successful event.’
We always have a few favourites at our Coffee Mornings, and we didn’t disappoint our visitors this time. Our Inner Wheel Ladies love running the bric-a-brac stall, the book stalls, Sue’s boutique and the cake stall.
Not to forget to mention the ladies on the door and serving tea and coffee; all unsung heros without a doubt.
The Pluck-a-Duck was supported by our ever-youngest assistant, Granddaughter of Sue who helped nana and Ruth run the stall.
Fantastic raffle prizes were won and together with a hand-made card stall and Christine’s Flower stall there was certainly a good range of stalls for our visitors to look at.
We also had two new stalls one selling lovely jewellery and a meet the author stand.
Katie Lovely is an upcoming British author who tackles gritty, social and medical issues as the themes of her compelling novels. Her debut novel Alice is available at Amazon, Waterstones and all leading book stores.
Katie writes under the pen name of K L Lovely and is from Mansfield, our neighbouring town. Alice, the debut novel was published on 31st January 2017 by Austin Macauley; Katie was kind enough to attend our event and sign copies of her book, and talk to guests. Her first novel Alice is, at times, a gritty but true to life story of a woman who finds herself in desperate straits. Alice addresses the seriousness of addiction and shows us the importance of love and support for an addict with astounding accuracy. We wish Katie every success with her new novel and eagerly await her next publication.
President Gloria will be handing over to our next president in July. At this the last coffee morning in her year Gloria said ‘Please look out for our next coffee morning due laterin the year. We will be shouting out loud about all our forthcoming events when the website is updated to welcome our new President Helen for 2017 – 2018. I want to take this opportunity to thank everyone for supporting Christine at today’s International Fundraising Coffee Morning.’
We hope you are all looking forward to the rest of Spring and getting outdoors; Warsop Inner Wheel are. Infact we are so excited that spring is here,
we wet our plants.
